The Boran is an African Bos indicus breed with high resistance to ticks, heat and other stresses.
The
C.S.I.R.O. and a consortium of cattlemen introduced the Boran from Zambia into
Australia in 1990. It is the only purebred African Zebu (bos Indicus) in

WHY?
One of the most important attributes of the BORAN is its ability to transmit hybrid vigour to the traditional beef breeds of Australia (including Brahman and its' crosses). Using BORAN bulls for crossbreeding is the quickest way of improving the commercial potential of beef herds.
